This $285 Million South Florida Mansion is Poised to Become the Most Expensive Home in the U.S.

The tony South Florida enclave of Manalapan is home to some of the nation’s priciest real estate, including an ultra-modern megamansion at 1960 South Ocean Boulevard that is poised to become the most expensive home ever sold in the United States.

Local developer Stewart Satter, former mayor of Manalapan, has just unveiled plans for what’s being billed as one of the most expensive properties for sale in the country. Though ground has not yet been broken, the waterfront property has nonetheless hit the market with Nick Malinosky of The Exclusive Group at Douglas Elliman for a whopping $285 million. The sky-high price is second only to a $295 million compound in Naples called Gordon Pointe, and whichever of the estates gets scooped up first has the potential to set a record as the costliest residential deal ever to go down in the U.S. The Manalapan estate is also currently one of the most expensive homes available in the world

“This property is a groundbreaking achievement in luxury real estate,” said Robert W. Burrage, founder of RWB Construction Management and a collaborator on the project. “From its scale to its intricate craftsmanship and unrivaled amenities, we’ve brought to market something that has never been done before. This estate is poised to set new records and redefine what is possible in ultra-luxury living.

The supersized spread sprawls over four acres right next door to tech billionaire Larry Ellison’s $173 million estate. According to reports, Satter bought the land in March 2024 for $27.5 million and commissioned the architecture firm Choeff Levy Fischman along with Marc-Michaels Interior Design for the look. Altogether, the trophy estate will include an approximately 55,000-square-foot main pad, an expansive guest residence, and a boathouse. The main house is planned with eight bedrooms and 16 bathrooms plus not just one but two state-of-the-art chef’s kitchens. The 4,145-square-foot primary suite will occupy its own wing with epic ocean views, a private pajama lounge, and dual bathroom suites.
