Built in architect Paul Fischman’s tropical modern style, 19 Palm offers many sophisticated architectural features. The two-story home is situated in Palm Island on a triangular lot, so the architect’s goal was to maximize the lot size. The back of the house, on the wider part of the lot, expands into a 110-foot seawall.
The front of the lot was so narrow that it made challenging to get in and out of the lot, Fischman said. He solved that by implementing a rotating turntable in front of the garage that’s triggered by remote control, making it easier to maneuver.
The property has a very Zen atmosphere, with reflecting ponds and cascading water features on all four sides of the home. A water feature by the entrance can be heard from the sidewalk. Inside, an atrium with floating steps lends the feeling of walking over water.
Beyond the atrium is an open living and entertainment area, with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that open to a deck with glass-edge infinity pool and sunken fire pit, blending indoors with the outdoors.
The expansive second-floor master suite features views of Biscayne Bay. The home office has a private entrance so visitors don’t have to walk through the house to access the second-floor office. It also has its own exterior lounge and is accessible by a staircase tucked behind the home’s water feature.
Inside, the home is outfitted with Artefacto furnishings. It features a theater, media room, living room, bar, lounge, central kitchen and catering kitchen. The master suite boasts separate wardrobes and bathrooms, and sweeping views of Biscayne Bay. Outside, the home’s façade features exotic wood, stones and board-formed concrete.
Construction on the 9,386-square-foot home began in October 2017 and was completed in November 2019.
